A quick roundup of events I have simply missed. For some reason, there are actually a bunch of YouTube videos on MadCap Flare. A handful were posted in 2010, but should still be interesting to watch or just for about anyone to catch up. I’ll include links to a few of them. You’ll probably be able to find the rest yourself.

Creating a Knowledge Base using MadCap Flare and Feedback Server
(I am hoping someone produces an updated version of this video with way better sound. The quality of information, which is good, is heavily let down by the quality/compression of audio. Still worth watching. )
Why isn’t anyone posting more videos on MadCap Flare? How about some short tutorials on topics like:
- Inserting email feedback forms into topics for WebHelp.
- Embedding short software simulations into topics.
- Ranking top 20 topics in a target.
- Setting up consistent multi-level numbered and un-numbered lists in a Flare project.
- Embedding icons in external URLs.
- Advanced stuff you can do with the TOC.
- Measuring and embedding tracking code to measure topic consumability with Google Analytics/Feedback Server.
- Embedding maps
- Setting up basic code highlighting for web based topics in documentation with code snippets.
- Drawing vector graphics and embedding them into Flare.
While we’re on the topic of video, screencasting/video tutorials, there are some interesting insights on how different users react to video tutorials in the post by Tom Johnson, A Few Notes from Usability Testing- Video Tutorials Get Watched, Text Gets Skipped. Do catch a few seconds of the actual video tutorial that occurs in the earlier part of the post – an excellent execution of a video tutorial. Heads above some of the fuzzy, distorted video or sound you can get on ‘the tube’ at times. Nice.
MadCap Software’s legendary support is now extended for trial downloads. So this is quite an offer to try the newer releases of the MadCap Software suite of products. See the original post that announced it on the MadCap Software blog, New Program Adds Free Technical Support to Trial Downloads
